In late 2013 Adam Holmes (young Scottish folk singer of the year, front man for Adam & The Embers) approached Pat and offered to record and produce his next album. Fast forward to spring 2014 and recording commenced at Raw Vintage Studios with Adam at the helm to record 12 songs for what would become Blessings…and Curses.
Featuring some of Pat’s most well-known songs such as ‘Darker Than Blue’, ‘Candy On The Pavement’, ‘Blind Henry’ and ‘No Love Less’ the album is a journey through his Americana roots.
The album features some of Edinburgh’s best musicians including Ciaran Ryan of Dalahan on violin, mandolin and tenor banjo, Roger ‘Bluesfather’ Emmerson on harmonica, the late great Martin Boland providing backing vocals, and of course Adam playing bass, guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals.
The album has been out of circulation for a number of years but we’re happy to get it back out here on my BandCamp for digital download from Friday November 5th.
